This conference is a unique opportunity to explore the shared journey of the Tatar people, strengthen connections, and engage in meaningful discussions in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The conference will begin with a reception and exhibition session. Educational and community posters prepared by delegates and contributors will showcase inspiring ideas, research, migration stories, and personal family histories.

Registered delegates will also receive exclusive access to the online session featuring video presentations prepared by Tatars from across Australia and around the world.

The main part of the conference will focus on oral presentations by Australian and international speakers discussing the challenges, opportunities, and future perspectives of the Tatar diaspora. Participants will learn about the history and present-day life of Tatar communities in Adelaide and across Australia, while speakers from North America and Europe will share their experiences in preserving Tatar identity within multicultural Western societies.

The conference will conclude with a discussion and networking session, giving delegates the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and enjoy refreshments in a friendly atmosphere.

Call for Poster Submissions and Video Presentations

We warmly invite members of the Tatar community to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the Poster Session or Online Video Presentation Session of the conference.

This is an opportunity to share your ideas, research, family stories, community initiatives, cultural projects, or personal reflections connected to Tatar history, identity, migration, language, and heritage.

Participation is open to everyone, including those who are unable to attend the event in person. Contributors may take part remotely with posters and pre-recorded video presentations.

We encourage contributions from individuals, families, students, researchers, artists, and community members from across Australia and around the world.

 

Suggested topics include:

• Tatar history, art, culture, education

• Civic engagement and community initiatives

• Family migration stories and personal journeys

 

Posters and video presentations should align with the core purpose of the conference:
to reflect on the resilience of the Tatar people and to foster a strong sense of belonging within the community.

All Expressions of Interest (EOIs) will be reviewed by the organising committee. Due to limited program capacity, not all submissions may be accepted.

Successful applicants will receive guidance and limited technical support in preparing their poster or video presentations. Please note that printing costs remain the responsibility of participants (estimated at approximately AU$50–100 per poster). Participation in the online video presentation session takes much less costs for a participant. Contributors are expected to prepare and edit their videos independently.

Submitted video clips will be published on the Australian Tatar Kurultai YouTube channel on the day of the conference.

Unless otherwise requested by the authors, all submitted materials may remain publicly accessible after the conference as part of the event archive and educational resources.

Remote participation will require the registration and AU$10 admin fee after the EOI is reviewed.

Registration Information

Online registration is required for all conference delegates and members of the public attending the event.

A small registration fee of AU$10 applies, contributing to website administrative costs and the preparation of conference materials.

Each conference pack features exclusive First Australian Tatar Kurultai souvenirs.

You will be asked to select the appropriate ticket and complete your purchase. During registration, basic personal information will be collected, including your full name, address, email, and mobile number.

 

After completing your purchase, you will receive an email confirmation with your ticket and receipt.

 

Once registered, you can create an account and log in to the Tatar Kurultai TidyHQ system as a conference delegate.
